Australian-born
vocalist Karen Lane brings her exceptional quintet to Toulouse Lautrec for an
uplifting evening of jazz, swing and Brazilian music.
Performing
a selection of songs from her five acclaimed albums, Karen moves effortlessly
between graceful swing, intimate ballads, sensuous bossa nova and vibrant
samba. Renowned for her elegant phrasing, rhythmic assurance and engaging stage
presence, she has a distinctive ability to breathe new life into familiar
standards.
Karen’s
enduring love of Brazilian music first emerged in English-language
interpretations on her album Taste before inspiring her to
sing in Portuguese on Passarim. That passion lies at the heart of
this performance, bringing warmth, colour and an infectious summer energy to
the stage.
She is
joined by an outstanding band featuring inventive pianist Chris Bland,
award-winning Canadian guitarist Dominic Ashworth, bassist Sam Ingvorsen and
distinguished drummer Nic France.

Karen Lane
Originally
from Perth, Australia, Karen Lane made an immediate impression on the UK jazz
scene with her debut album, Once in a Lifetime, which received
outstanding reviews and international radio play.
She has
since independently produced five acclaimed albums, developing a reputation for
imaginative arrangements and fresh interpretations of jazz standards. Her
passion for Brazilian music can be heard throughout Taste and Passarim,
with the latter featuring Karen singing in Portuguese.
Combining
subtle, intimate phrasing with a vibrant stage presence, Karen brings depth and
sensitivity to every song while sharing an infectious love of the music.
