Fabienne Ambuehl is a Swiss-born, London-based
pianist, singer and composer, known for her vibrant contemporary jazz that
weaves together elements of poetry, folk and storytelling. Her latest
album Thrive (Ubuntu Music, 2025) won ‘Jazz Recording of the
Year’ at the Presto Music Awards in December 2025 and received widespread
acclaim from the international jazz press.
With fluid, expressive piano playing and emotive
vocals, she draws inspiration from both the stillness of nature and the pulse
of urban life. Rich in detail and with striking energy, her music evokes a
strong sense of place and atmosphere. Ambuehl first gained wider recognition
with her album Glitterwoods (Traumton, Berlin), which was named ‘Album of the
Year’ by UK Vibe. She has since performed and recorded internationally. Her
voice has been described by Jazzviews UK as ‘crystal clear, distinctive and refreshingly
free of jazz clichés’. Jazzwise Magazine notes that the album creates ‘an
impressively immersive musical experience’. Thrive was selected as ‘Album of
the Week’ both at Presto Music and the German Rondo Magazine. It received
regular airplay on BBC Radio 3, and featured on the Jazz FM playlist for
several weeks.
Ant Law is one of the UK’s leading jazz
guitarists, named a “Rising Star” in DownBeat’s 2025 Critics Poll and described
as “a game changer” and “an innovator” in The Guardian. His recently released
ninth album Unified Theories was Jazzwise magazine’s Editor’s Choice and has
received widespread international acclaim. Since his debut Entanglement (2013),
Law has built a reputation for highly innovative work, with Life I Know (2018)
earning five-star reviews and multiple ‘best of year’ listings. His recent release
Ensconced, a collaboration with vocalist Brigitte Beraha, highlights his
versatility and ongoing evolution. Ant performs and records with artists
including Emma Rawicz and Tim Garland, and is a leading member of Trio HLK,
with whom he records/tours extensively alongside Evelyn Glennie.
Tom Farmer is a double bassist, composer and
bandleader, widely recognised as a key figure on the British jazz scene. As a
founding member of the award-winning quartet Empirical, he has toured
extensively across Europe and North America, received the MOBO Best Jazz Act
2010, and helped pioneer the UK’s first Pop-Up Jazz Lounge. Since 2015, he has
performed worldwide with sitarist Anoushka Shankar, and has built a
long-standing collaboration with singer-pianist Joe Stilgoe, headlining venues
such as the Barbican. He also co-produces King for a Day: The Nat Cole Story
with vocalist Atila. In addition to his work as a bandleader, Farmer is an
in-demand sideman, with credits including The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, Emma
Smith, Stella Cole, Manu Delago, Heidi Vogel, and Ivo Neame.
Following his graduation from the Royal Welsh
College of Music & Drama, Ryan Thrupp has established himself as
one of the South West’s most in-demand drummers. Recognised for his dynamic,
responsive, and interactive playing, he brings both sensitivity and drive to
every performance. Ryan has shared the stage with leading figures in UK jazz
including Rob Luft, Dave O’Higgins, Vasilis Xenopoulos and Nigel Price. His
performances have taken him to renowned venues and events such as the Royal
Albert Hall, Ronnie Scotts and Glastonbury Festival, marking him out as a
rising talent on the UK jazz scene.
