Eleonora Kouneni Quartet: This Eager Heart - EP
Showcase!
After a sold-out launch at the Pheasantry,
Greek-born, London-based jazz vocalist and songwriter Eleonora Kouneni brings
her band of longstanding collaborators to Jazz Café POSK for a showcase of her
new EP ‘This Eager Heart’ - a story of love, loss and longing told through four
timeless standards.
Following the crossover success of her
independently released debut EP ‘If You Just…’, this new project with pianist
Chris Lee marks her first recorded exploration of the Great American Songbook
and has already earned her a place at this year’s Durham Jazz Festival.
The programme will also feature original songs from
‘If You Just…’, a selection of beloved standards, and an exclusive preview of
new arrangements scheduled for release in the Autumn - offering audiences a
blend of familiar repertoire, fresh interpretations, and the evolving sound of
a partnership rooted in shared musical curiosity.
Line up:
Eleonora Kouneni - vocals
Chris Lee - piano
Martin Young - bass
Manuel Filgueiras – drums
With special guest Carter Arrington on guitar
Jazz vocalist and songwriter Eleonora Kouneni is
known for blending jazz phrasing with Mediterranean warmth and emotional
clarity. After opening for some of Greece’s most celebrated vocalists at major
stages in Athens, she relocated to London and has been steadily carving out her
place in the city’s jazz scene, having performed at venues such as the Green
Note, Vortex and Pizza Express Live. Her debut EP of original songs, If
You Just..., reached over 3M streams worldwide, leading to sold-out
headline shows in London and Austin, and a showcase in New York City.
Martin Young is a West London bassist whose
career spans big bands, small groups, and collaborations across the North West,
Bath, Bristol, and London. He performs regularly at venues such as the Bull’s
Head and the Pheasantry, Pizza Express Live, and is the long-standing bassist
for SoulTrippers.
Chris Lee is a London-based
composer/arranger/pianist who has performed and recorded with some of the
leading musicians on the London jazz and Brazilian music scenes. Notable albums
include Second Take, with singer Jenny Howe, and A Troubled Man, with singer
Mark Jennett.
Manuel Filgueiras is a Portuguese drummer,
active in the London music scene since 2019. Versatile in an array of styles
and approaches, such as Latin, Jazz, and Contemporary, Manuel spends his time
between live music performances and lecturing new drummers, which he loves.
