Since studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Trinity College of Music (winning the Gold medal for performance - the college's highest award) Alam has been nominated as a finalist for the Worshipful Company of Musicians' 'Young Jazz Musician of The Year 2009', as well as being fortunate enough to work with a diverse range of musicians. Alam's debut record 'Quintet' features Hannes Riepler, Tom Hewson, Ryan Trebilcock and Jon Scott. He also plays with the Tom White Septet, Oriole, Vitor Pereira, Filipe Monteiro, the 'Nu Civilisation Orchestra', Jazz Jamaica All-Stars, Peter Ibbetson's 'The Twelveheads', Huw Williams' 'Hon', and MAP trio.
